Dulcet & Studio

Yoohoo! Omg I think I've been eating too much good food lately because this is another food post! This time we went to Dulcet & Studio for dinner on Hari Raya Haji (yes I know I just blogged about the Prima revolving restaurant hehe) Dulcet & Studio is located at Liang Court and the interior design is super pretty (which is probably a given for most cafés) I think they specialize in desserts because the cakes and pastries looked really dainty and delicious (sorry didn't take any photos of them), but we went there for dinner so we ordered main courses; they mostly serve pasta. Anyway, here are some pictures!

Ice lemon tea and coke float *_* I actually forgot to add the sugar syrup into my ice lemon tea so I was drinking this super sour and bland drink the whole time -_-

Interesting espresso soup. It was served in a teacup! Spot the KS Bull (sample GP essay book) in the background haha!

FOOD:

Mum and dad said this crab pasta was really good! I regret not trying some! But then again I was really full cos I ordered a set meal.

I ordered the set meal which included the ice lemon tea, espresso soup, this carbonara pasta and pudding for dessert. All for only $15! It was too good a deal for a cheapo like me to pass up haha. But the quality of the food wasn't as good as the non-set meal dishes boohoo :( There were minimal ingredients in the pasta and the cream sauce was quite diluted. This reminds me of the episode of Dr. Oz show I watched where they said "what you pay for is what you get". So true...

So that rounds up this post. BTW tomorrow is my birthday! Excited to be legal woohoo!

Foodie adventures

On Sunday mum, dad and I went to St. Marc Café for breakfast again. I love that place because it serves really delicious Japanese pastries and drinks. I also enjoy the alone time I get with mum and dad when Bel and Matt are at Sunday School. I had a butter pastry ($2.70 I think) and milk tea ($5) but my favourites  are the signature Chococro and Matcha Latté. This time daddy ordered both of them instead.

Daddy's hand ruined the picture -_-

Then after we picked Bel and Matt up, we went to Pasta Fresca de Salvatore at Rochester Park for lunch.
Guess who I saw there? Keegan! He was studying at the Pies and Coffee café there haha. I'm surprised he still recognised me, it's been awhile. Anyway, the Alla Pugliese pasta that I had was really good! That's the only pasta I've tried from there because I always order the same thing.

The restaurant was really pretty, it's beside the Starbucks at Rochester.

My pasta! It had an olive oil base with broccoli and cheese.

Complimentary dessert because mummy paid with DBS card :D

I always look forward to Sundays because they are so enjoyable because I get to spend time with my family and relax after a long and tiring week. But that makes Sunday evenings extra depressing because I know that on Monday it will be back to the grind :(

Today is Hari Raya Haji, a public holiday, so this morning, mum and dad brought us to the Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant to eat dim sum for brunch.
How it looks from the outside (I tried my best!):

I'm no food connoisseur so I can't exactly critique the food, but this was my favourite dish: you tiao chee cheong fan
Even though the restaurant was not revolving very fast, mum and I got a little giddy after awhile haha. It was my first time there even though it's only a 10 minute drive from my house and it was quite a unique experience!

Ok that's all folks! Happy Hari Raya Haji!

Graduation

The title of this post is actually inaccurate because we won't be graduating until we've completed our 'A' levels and confirmed that we don't need to retake them. Sad but true. Today was just our farewell assembly but it felt like we were going to school for the last time. :'( I really can't imagine not waking up before the sun rises every morning and not seeing my classmates everyday. I've become so used to the routine that I have taken for granted all the people who make my days brighter than they otherwise would be. Picture spamming time!

With Bel!

We got free Red Bull haha!

Candid polaroid taken by Kelvin lol

Farewell cards for Bel and Rena. (Don't judge my artistic talents k)

With Cheryl!

        With Van and Rou Hui!

The Tenacious Turtles!! DARE6 was one of the most fun and fulfilling events that I took part in in VJC and I'm so glad that it allowed me to grow closer to Cheryl, Vanessa and Ginkee. It's definitely an experience I'll never ever forget! (Apologies for the blur photo)

With my beloved PW group! Really really miss working with them! Thank you guys for all the hard work you put into the project and for never complaining, you're the best group I could ask for :) [Again, sorry for the blur photo ): ]

With Bel and Rena eating our FREE ice cream yay #cheapskate haha

<3
To my classmates: If you're reading this somehow, I want to thank you and say that I really love you guys. These 2 years have not exactly been the best years of my life, but they were made so much better because of such a friendly and fun-loving class. Let's work hard for A's and reap the benefits of all that we've been through together these 2 years!

To my fellow dancer girls Jie Ying, Evelyn and Belinda: our journey together during dance has made us so much stronger and I'm so proud that we never gave up even though we faced so many obstacles and felt so much emotional and physical pain. I love you all! Continue to dance beautifully no matter what anyone says!

With Rong and JT! So glad I joined PAWS this year because I got to make so many wonderful friends like you guys. PAWS days are always great days because talking to you guys really makes me feel at home and like I belong somewhere in this school. :') I LOVE EVERYONE IN PAWS!

Anyway for farewell assembly, dance and wushu collaborated to perform an item, it was really good! I'm really impressed that the people from wushu managed to learn the dance and were able to dance as well as the dancers. *applause* But it was quite disappointing that that was the only performing arts item. Admittedly, the videos and speeches were really entertaining and I never fail to marvel at how creative and IT-savvy some Victorians are. The last item was the teachers band, it was really super fun jumping and singing along haha. And we got goodie bags! Stuff inside:

Spot the stress management booklet haha

After assembly we had a CT session and we took lots of photos. The class then proceeded to play soccer monkey in the classroom in which I got a forfeit and had to share chocolate with Anthea. -_- At least it wasn't a guy? Then we went to Parkway for lunch. We sat in this open area in Parkway that I never knew existed, I was quite amazed because it was actually in the building. Haha then Belinda called me suaku.

It's actually on the 5th floor!
But after awhile, the security guard pooped the party and told us we couldn't sit there. :( so we just said our goodbyes and parted... It wasn't exactly very emotional because we'll still be seeing one another next week.

Yesterday the SC announced the prom king and queen nominees! Which was completely disappointing actually. Not one of the five couples was exceptionally good-looking. I don't mean to be appearance-obsessed and superficial but I think that the prom queen should be pretty and the prom king be handsome #sorrynotsorry haha. Belinda suggested that there may be a plot twist, like one of the couples breaks up. Not to be sadistic, but that would be interesting (and also very awkward).

BTW, completely loving my pretty new eye drops!

Mummy's birthday

Mummy's birthday was on Sunday and I feel quite upset? guilty? sad? that there was no cake or singing of happy birthday for her. I merely wished her happy birthday in the morning and we went for lunch with my grandparents. And that was it. My family doesn't have the habit of making too big of a deal out of birthdays, especially mummy and daddy's, but sometimes I think that we should make the birthday boy/girl/man/woman feel a little more special on at least one day in the year. That way they have something to look forward to no matter how bad life is at that point in time. But I guess we don't have to wait for that one day every year to show how much we love and care for them, and try to make them feel special and that life's worth living every single day. I love my parents THIS much but sometimes I find it extremely hard to show it. I hope they know how much they, and everything they've done, mean to me. Anyway here are some pictures from our lunch at TCC (we got 50% off because of mummy's birthday)

In the car after church

Raspberry mousse! I think it's my favourite dessert from TCC.

I can't post a picture with my parents because they're very particular about privacy and not having their picture up on the internet. :o

Anyway today we got to choose our class table for SDD (aka prom). It was on a first-come-first-serve basis and we got a super lousy table even though we went to queue 5 minutes early! Okay I'm guessing you have to be half an hour early to get a good table. But it wasn't Belinda's or my fault, we really didn't know that there would be so many people... At first we got the cue number 13 and still thought, "Hey that's not too bad!" Little did we know that the people in front of us each had 2-3 tables per cue number. T_T So we were only left with less than 10 tables to choose from, and these tables were in the weirdest positions i.e. squashed beside the wall, practically right beside the stage etc.. I don't even know why they put tables in such nonstrategic places..

Today I went for my first econs tuition session with Cheryl and Vanessa! There were a lot of snacks at the tuition center including Reese's peanut butter cups! Plus this is the first tuition center I've come across that gives commission to existing students who bring new students in! (We split the commission hehe) But obviously that's not the reason I joined. *nervous laugh* The class itself was quite good! I honestly think that if I had joined earlier, I wouldn't have done so badly in prelims :( But it's too late for regrets now and all I can do is look forward (and heavenward) and just keep pushing on till A's!  The class was from 6.30pm-9.30pm  (3 hrs?!) and I'm completely pooped now so goodnight!

TGIF!

Here's a conversation I have with myself almost everyday
Me: Omg how can you even think of buying a snack when you didn't finish your target amount of work today?!
Me: But...
Me: No buts! You just sit quietly and wait for daddy to come fetch you.

Yesterday was an extremely disappointing day because I got back econs and GP. I got an S for econs :( Even though I admit I was somewhat expecting it, I was still hopeful... but that's not the worst part... I actually got D for GP!! D: GP is one of my best subjects and I have consistently gotten B for it over the last 2 years! Though I did get a C for CT2s... oh gosh I hope this isn't going to be a downward trend. I knew it was a mistake choosing that question on fame! ('Fame comes at a heavy price.' Do you agree?) But it was such a deceptively easy question! T_T And today I got my chem paper back. *drumroll* I got a B which is 1000x better than the U grade I got for CT2s! Ok fine so maybe I did drop to H1 but I think it's still a commendable effort!

Despite my seemingly endless complaints about my results, I think I finally realise and accept that it is not academic grades that define a person but the strength of his/her character and faith. As I pray more, I feel like I am moving closer to the path that God wants me to take in life and I feel more at peace with myself. Even though I will still try my best in everything I do no matter what, I am less concerned with the outcome now because I know that whatever happens, it will happen in my best interest. *peaceful smile*

I finally went to check and found out that I've had Hazel (my rabbit) for almost 2 years now! She's 2 years and about 3 months old now. Honestly I panicked a little because I can't imagine taking care of her for another 8+ years (if she lives to be that old), washing her cage every weekend and changing the bedsheets every time she pees on them haha. I also realised that she will see me through my major transitions in life like entering uni, going out to work and possibly entering a relationship. Then I realised that it's going to be hard when she passes away :'( Here's a picture of Hazel to brighten your day!

Back to school blues

Yesterday I just spent the entire morning writing my personal statement for physiotherapy. I wrote one for vet science some time ago but then I realised I am not cut out for vet science so I just copied some parts from the vet PS and put them into a new one for physio. It took the whole morning because I was totally sidetracked haha I kept reading Sophie Willocq's blog and turns out her grades in JC weren't superb either, which gives me some hope... anyway my back-up plan will be to study physiotherapy in poly or go to NUS FASS, I haven't decided yet.

Then I went to grandma's house for lunch, after which I did some math for the whole afternoon and I still couldn't finish a paper *cries*

At night I made a card for Ant for her birthday, which was like in August -_-... Ok I know I'm a bad friend!

Yes I got her a minion thumbdrive haha.

Anyway today was really quite sian going back to school but I think it would be more depressing staying at home alone. Our math and physics scores were revealed to us today and I can't believe I got an A for math! My paper 2 really pulled me up. God really answered my fervent prayers haha. But physics was just meh, I got a D. I'm just happy that I passed because my physics has never been good. Everbody said it was a difficult paper but I'm trying not to use that as an excuse for my poor grades :(

And Anthea said my eyebags were very big today :O which is weird because I've been sleeping so much lately. On a side note, how I try to memorise chemical periodicity:
