Happy day

Today I went to study with Grace at the NLB again! There was a couple sitting beside me and they kept whispering and making very distracting movements tsk. Anyway Grace and I went to the basement of Bugis Junction for lunch because I was on a tight budget haha. I ate rice cakes which were really spicy. Every time I eat with Grace I somehow manage to order super spicy food (like the ramen the last time) then Grace will offer to give me some of her non-spicy food lol.

Then we decided to go for sunset mass at the church of Our Lady of Lourdes since tomorrow is All Saints' day. We almost got lost walking there from the NLB! But luckily I went there before and my memory is not so bad hehe. After mass we tried to walk to Little India station but got lost! It was quite scary and I daresay we nearly got killed by oncoming motorcycles several times! In the end we ended up asking a lady for directions but she said it was quite hard to walk there so we took the bus instead. And that ended our little adventure haha. So thankful for the friends in my life that make things more interesting!

Recently I've been finding it slightly more difficult to fall asleep, which is completely uncharacteristic of me since it's been proven that I can sleep anytime, anywhere. I have so many thoughts jumbled up in my mind like hey E=hf money supply increase liquidity trap Kc=[pdcts]/[rxts] and the list goes on sigh.

My sis started a blog! Anyway her life is 100x more interesting than mine, so read it here!

Hi I'm studying

On Sunday I went to Starbucks with mum and dad for breakfast to claim my free birthday cake! I got the coffee and caramel flavour (can't remember the exact name) and it was really good! But I felt so guilty after that that I had to eat salad for lunch haha Sundays are really fat days.

With green tea :)

Yesterday, I randomly went to eat Sogurt alone while taking a break from studying at Serangoon library haha. I'm aiming to get the membership with my loyalty card by the end of November! I tried the special Halloween pumpkin pie flavour but I didn't really like it, I guess I prefer conventional-tasting stuff. They were having an instagram promotion and I got 15% off my next purchase because I uploaded a photo of my froyo on instagram yayy. I realise it's extremely hard to make sogurt look appealing on instagram because most of the time it's just a blob in the cup with a scatter of toppings on top haha.

Then Cheryl, Van and I met for dinner together a Ramen Play before our tuition because it was our last session.
And there was no more Bread Pan at tuition! *devastated* Cheryl and Van were talking about their after A's weight loss plans and I got a little scared because I haven't been exercising regularly and I'm probably the fattest I have ever been (except for when I was a baby...)BUT this morning I went for a jog with Van at ECP! It was quite a good start to the day :D Van said that during the jog she suddenly felt like it was like her journey in JC: easy at first but progressively tougher  near the end with a fair share of ups and downs. And as I think back to the final 200m or so of our jog, I couldn't agree more. While I run, I feel tired and sweaty, and most of all, I feel like giving up because I think I can't take another step. But if I persevere and tell myself not to quit, at the end of it, the sense of accomplishment is so much greater, and I won't remember, and may even miss the pain that I felt. I know JC and 'A' levels will be the same. And just like how jogging with a friend increases my willpower, the support of my friends and teachers contributes to the reason why I know I'll be able to endure till the end and perform at my best. Anyway today we also had a 4 hour econs lecture (don't ask me how I survived that, I think it was the coffee) conducted by Mr. Chan. He went through the topics and areas that have a high likelihood of coming out for A's. It was quite useful I guess.. Ahh everything econs-related is useful to me since I'm so poor at it. That's all! Have a great week! :)Countdown: 9 days to A's Ps. I think we should go to church not based on how many or how good friends we have there, but based on our love for and desire to serve God. Just a random thought because I feel that church is increasingly becoming more about friends than spirituality.

I heart

Today I went to NLB to study with Grace. The only mildly exciting thing that happened was our lunch break (it's studying what do you expect). We went to Raffles City to eat at the Soup Spoon and Handburger collaboration restaurant (they call it union, but I like collab better). Then we bought Gong Cha and walked to Popular at Bras Basah to buy pens and highlighters because mine all ran out of ink because I just do that much work.

Ballet today was crazy tiring. It actually can't even be considered a ballet lesson anymore. It's more like Irish dance lesson la. We're practicing for a mini showcase at the end of November and the dance leaves everyone panting and sweating at the end because it involves jumping, hopping and skipping around like a leprechaun (ok no not really, but that's the general vibe). I am NOT inviting anyone because it's just too embarrassing, I still have nightmares about the cow costume I wore for one of the recitals I did *shudder*

On Tuesday evening I received another birthday card in the mail from Tiff. I really feel so blessed to have such caring and thoughtful friends! Receiving cards in the mail is so special because it means that the person actually took the time to go to the post office, buy stamps and mail the card out. Tiff's card caused me to take out all my old cards and read them once over. I found a long-forgotten encouragement card that Su gave me in sec 4 when I was feeling down because of my grades, and as I read it I really felt very hopeful and comforted and it inspired me to persevere in studying for 'A' levels!

During tuition on Thursday I did something extremely embarrassing... I thought the coffee creamer was coffee and mixed it with hot water, then I asked Cheryl and Van why the coffee was white. Omg then they told me I used the creamer! And a guy standing nearby sniggered at me. T_T Whyyy... sometimes I wonder how I survived so many years in this world when I'm so blur. Anyway tuition was good as usual, I'm getting a better understanding of how to dissect the questions and figure out what to write. Plus I ate 2 packets of Bread Pan i.e. the most delicious snack in the world! I'll be very sad when tuition ends next week cos that means no more free Bread Pan..On a side note, I really envy girls who can carry off bandage skirts.Countdown to 'A's: 13 days (stupid alignment problems are killing me)

*insert cool title*

Phew today passed so quickly! I did a physics paper 3 and studied some econs and *BAM* it was time to go for the physics mock exam... The physics mock paper 3 was not as tough as prelims surprisingly! And I finished like 20 minutes before the end of the paper, I'm so proud of myself! :') After physics I went to photocopying shop with Rena to help her buy some econs 'A' level papers. When I asked the aunty whether she sold them, she lied! The conversation went something like this:
Me: Do you sell econs 'A' level papers?
Aunty: *shakes head*
Me: But yesterday when I asked you said that you sell...
Aunty: *walks grudgingly over to machine and pulls out the econs papers and starts photocopying them for me*
Me: wth
Then when we were walking out, Rena pointed out that the aunty should have just kept by her stand till the end that she didn't have the papers hahaha.

Despite it being a Monday, yesterday was satisfyingly productive (compared to last week that is) since I went to school early with mummy yay :) But the H1 chem mock exam was so super duper hard :o Plus I started late because I couldn't find the venue! I went to LT4 then some J1 guy told me to go to LT2, so I went into LT2 but the J1s were having a lecture there, major embarrassing! Then I went to LT3 where the teacher told me to go to LT1 where I finally found my classmates (who didn't pick up their phones because they'd already started the paper). By then I visited every single LT except LT5 and LTAVA -_- Haha sorry for the longwinded story, my summary skills are clearly lacking.

Other than that, I went home early yesterday and went for a jog, but after that I ate 2 bars of kitkat sigh #piggylife. I'm guessing they completely offset all the burnt calories and even added some :( Nonetheless I'm still proud of myself for having the willpower to actually get out of the house and exercise especially since I haven't jogged in ages and my fitness level has dipped to almost zero.

Expectation vs reality
E: Ok imma sleep early tonight!
R: *looks at instagram till midnight*
Reality-1 Expecation-0

Anyway, on Saturday I received a birthday card and a Starbucks card in the mail from Su Lynn! I was so pleasantly surprised because I didn't expect her to have the time to be able to make a card and even mail it to me! Su Lynn makes the prettiest cards, I have a whole collection of the cards that she gave me over the years, she's really talented! One day I think I'll take out all her old cards and post pictures of them here haha.

Then on Sunday we went for our usual Sunday lunch at this place at Novena called Pigsfly kitchen & bar (don't be alarmed the bar wasn't open and no I didn't drink haha). They served different types of cuisine like Japanese and western. Here are some pictures of the food!

And a picture of me haha. My right eye was swelling that day, I think it was an allergic reaction to something but idk what.

I also went to Starbucks to claim my free drink! (from registering the card that Su gave me)
Salted caramel frappé. I can't express how much I love salted caramel!

That's all folks! We're getting back our prelim results slips tomorrow :/ Good luck to me...

--18--

Yayy I'm back! Today's post will be about MY BIRTHDAY!!! It honestly started out as a pretty shitty day. I don't know why I was feeling so grumpy in the morning and the red spots (pimples? idk) developing on my face were annoying me. THEN the math paper that I was doing was so super difficult and I got really frustrated with all the questions that I couldn't do! After that I went to school for physics remedial (at least the public transport seemed to be on my side) and guess what?! I forgot to bring the worksheet that I attempted, but then it didn't even matter because the lecturer was going through something I had never seen before in my entire life!!! Anyway after that the day started to get better cos when I was doing work in the canteen Yiling and Chee Hao came along and talked to me for awhile so I didn't feel so lonely anymore :) Then daddy came to pick me up and he and mummy started arguing after he picked her up from Harbourfront... so I was pretty upset. But then they talked it out when we got to grandma's house and they took out my cake!!! YAYY! It was a Hello Kitty cake from Breadtalk and it tasted super delicious!
Picture time:

With grandma and grandpa <3

I like this candid shot, grandpa and grandma look so happy hahaha!

With Matt and Bel! Once again I can't post pictures with my parents cos they need to 'maintain their privacy' haha

The cake! Ok the photo is really bad (taken with my phone), I did try to edit it...

Me massacring Hello Kitty's face hehehe

Eating the cake and talking and laughing with my family was a great way to end the day. Even Matt was being nice to me hahaha. I really am very blessed! Also, so many people smsed me to wish me happy birthday and I feel quite guilty for not wishing some of them on their birthdays. At the same time I feel really blessed to have friends who bother to do so, it really brightened up my day! ^^

Face mask to end off the day! (and to attempt to get rid of the red spots on my face)

Anyway today Belinda gave me a present and some muffins/cupcakes! I can't believe that she actually took time to bake the cupcakes and everything even though we are all so busy nowadays! If you're reading this Bel, a big thank you to you :)) And a big thank you to everyone who wished me (especially at midnight) and gave me presents and just made my day much better!

Clearly I fail at food photography... Also, the chocolate on top is supposed to spell SAM but it got smudged on the lid of the container haha you can still see a bit of the A.

Today we also had econs mock exam and I was late!! T_T And if you do 'A' level econs you would know that every second counts... so needless to say I couldn't finish... I think Mr. Chan is really on the verge of giving up on me already sighpie.
Anyway TGIF and goodnight!

Dulcet & Studio

Yoohoo! Omg I think I've been eating too much good food lately because this is another food post! This time we went to Dulcet & Studio for dinner on Hari Raya Haji (yes I know I just blogged about the Prima revolving restaurant hehe) Dulcet & Studio is located at Liang Court and the interior design is super pretty (which is probably a given for most cafés) I think they specialize in desserts because the cakes and pastries looked really dainty and delicious (sorry didn't take any photos of them), but we went there for dinner so we ordered main courses; they mostly serve pasta. Anyway, here are some pictures!

Ice lemon tea and coke float *_* I actually forgot to add the sugar syrup into my ice lemon tea so I was drinking this super sour and bland drink the whole time -_-

Interesting espresso soup. It was served in a teacup! Spot the KS Bull (sample GP essay book) in the background haha!

FOOD:

Mum and dad said this crab pasta was really good! I regret not trying some! But then again I was really full cos I ordered a set meal.

I ordered the set meal which included the ice lemon tea, espresso soup, this carbonara pasta and pudding for dessert. All for only $15! It was too good a deal for a cheapo like me to pass up haha. But the quality of the food wasn't as good as the non-set meal dishes boohoo :( There were minimal ingredients in the pasta and the cream sauce was quite diluted. This reminds me of the episode of Dr. Oz show I watched where they said "what you pay for is what you get". So true...

So that rounds up this post. BTW tomorrow is my birthday! Excited to be legal woohoo!

Foodie adventures

On Sunday mum, dad and I went to St. Marc Café for breakfast again. I love that place because it serves really delicious Japanese pastries and drinks. I also enjoy the alone time I get with mum and dad when Bel and Matt are at Sunday School. I had a butter pastry ($2.70 I think) and milk tea ($5) but my favourites  are the signature Chococro and Matcha Latté. This time daddy ordered both of them instead.

Daddy's hand ruined the picture -_-

Then after we picked Bel and Matt up, we went to Pasta Fresca de Salvatore at Rochester Park for lunch.
Guess who I saw there? Keegan! He was studying at the Pies and Coffee café there haha. I'm surprised he still recognised me, it's been awhile. Anyway, the Alla Pugliese pasta that I had was really good! That's the only pasta I've tried from there because I always order the same thing.

The restaurant was really pretty, it's beside the Starbucks at Rochester.

My pasta! It had an olive oil base with broccoli and cheese.

Complimentary dessert because mummy paid with DBS card :D

I always look forward to Sundays because they are so enjoyable because I get to spend time with my family and relax after a long and tiring week. But that makes Sunday evenings extra depressing because I know that on Monday it will be back to the grind :(

Today is Hari Raya Haji, a public holiday, so this morning, mum and dad brought us to the Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant to eat dim sum for brunch.
How it looks from the outside (I tried my best!):

I'm no food connoisseur so I can't exactly critique the food, but this was my favourite dish: you tiao chee cheong fan
Even though the restaurant was not revolving very fast, mum and I got a little giddy after awhile haha. It was my first time there even though it's only a 10 minute drive from my house and it was quite a unique experience!

Ok that's all folks! Happy Hari Raya Haji!
